Simply Dance's season runs from early to mid September until the early to mid June. All classes end just before the recital, which is usually the second weekend in June. After that, we hold summer classes and camps for all ages and levels.
When does your registration begin?
Although we have an open registration, we normally hold registration from June - October. Children are typically able to join classes anytime during the year. However, if they plan on participating in the recital, then they will need to join the specific classes in December or January.
Is participation in the recital mandatory?
The recital is always optional. However, the purpose of the recital is to showcase the abilities and skills that your child has learned throughout the dance season. We strive to make the recital a fun and enjoyable experience.
What costs are associated with the recital?
The only costs associated with the recital are the cost of the costumes, the shoes that correspond with the class your child is enrolled in, and the purchasing of tickets to attend the show. Recital costumes usually range from $75-$80 per costume.
Can my child try a class to see if she enjoys it before signing up?
Yes. We offer each new student the option to try "one" class for free.
Is tuition the same even though there are only 3 weeks in the month?
Yes. The tuition will be the same no matter if their are 3, 4, or 5 weeks in the month. In the end, the amount of classes your child will have balances out.
My child plays a sport in the spring, can she take classes up until the spring?
Yes. Your child can take classes for any period of time, however since we are on a monthly billing cycle, we cannot refund tuition for a partial month. We also ask that we know ahead of time if they will be participating in the recital since we will need to order costumes.
Do you offer private lessons?
We do offer private lessons in acro/gymnastics only. However, the times available for private lessons are dependent on the availability of the teachers. Please call the office for more information on private lessons and pricing.
What if my child misses a class?
Your child will be able to make up any classes they miss in another class. See your teacher for recommended make-up times. Please note that there are no make up classes in the months of May and June.
How many children are in the classes?
In order to maximize the amount of learning for your children, we keep our class sizes small. For our younger dancers (ages 4-7), there are usually no more than 8-10 children in the class. For our older dancers (ages 8 & up), we keep the size between 10-15 children. No class will ever have more than 20 students.
Can I switch classes midway through the year?
Yes. If your child finds that they are not enjoying the class, or would like to try a different class, they are more than welcome to switch as long as costumes have not been ordered for the recital. Please see us if that is the case and we will find a solution.
Why do I have to pay the full tuition for September and June even though they are not always a full month?
Tuition rates are calculated on a yearly rate, and are broken into 10 equal monthly payments, much like a car payment. The amount does not change due to absences or closings. Yearly tuition rates are calculated with holiday and school closings in mind.
Do you have a competitive dance team? What are the requirements for joining the competition team?
